Introduction

One of the greatest transformations for Asia with the advent of the 21st century is the shift in its demographic profile. Asia is growing old and it is growing old fast. 54% or 363 million of the world’s old live in Asia. This bulge can be a boon or a bane depends on how timely the preparations are made.

The inaugural Asia Forum on Ageing 2009 will path the way for a sustainable future for an older Asia. International experts will share new trends and development in housing and community care that will broaden our scope for what is possible for ageing in place. There will be insights into the key principles and frameworks on housing and community care for older persons to guide policy makers as well as service providers as they deliberate on needed policies and programmes. The Asia Forum on Ageing will be the meeting place for researchers, policy makers and practitioners for exchanges and collaborations for innovations on the ageing phenomenon.

We invite presentations at the two Free Paper and Poster Sessions of Breakout 1C and 2C. The papers or posters and other exhibits have to be on the two key themes of the conference as indicated on the programme. Presentations should not be more than 15 minutes in duration. The DEADLINE  for papers and exhibits is 31 December 2008. All accepted papers will be notified by the conference secretariat.
